A black-and-white intimate film and a great film about how two generations of men get along. It oozes both the important things that words can't do, and great filmmaking craft.
A slightly grizzled radio journalist, played by Joaquin Phoenix, is given a nephew to babysit. Together they embark on a journey across the United States. Between New York and New Orleans, an unlikely friendship is born that will affect both for a lifetime. Two worlds, two perspectives (which one is more refreshing, you can probably guess), a bunch of emotions and scenes that will take parents especially to heart. The boy is played by Woody Norman, a little Brit who reportedly had to ditch his American accent for the role.
